Lieutenant William Augustus Wetmore

William Augustus Wetmore was the son of Sarah Throop Hinckley Wetmore (1801-1880) and Augustus Wetmore (1786-1881). During the Civil War, he served as a lieutenant in the Union army; he was the Wagoner of Company C of the 18th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. Lietenant Wetmore married Abby Frances Peckham (1842-1918). They had four sons: George Perry Wetmore (1860-1947); Monroe Nichols Wetmore, PhD (1863-1954); Charles Hinckley Wetmore (1870-1958); and Edwin Augustus Wetmore (1874-1964). William Augustus Wetmore died in 1917.
