Elizabeth Swan

American, 1741 - 1817
BiographyElizabeth Swan was born on 8 December 1741 in Stonington, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Asa and Marvin Holmes Swan. She married Daniel Brewster, as his second wife, on 4 October 1764. (His first wife, Phebe Williams, died on 13 September 1758.) Elizabeth and Daniel had nine children: John (b. 1767); Jabez (b. 1769); Marvil (b. 1771); Phebe (b. 1773); Asa Swan (1775-1840); Elizabeth (b. 1777); Daniel (b. 1780); Lyman D. (1782-1835); and Otis (1785-1787.)

In 1778, Daniel and Elizabeth Swan Brewster purchased a farm in Salisbury, Connecticut, from Governor Chittenden. Elizabeth's husband Daniel died in Salibury on 31 March 1814. She died there three years later on 4 August 1817. The Brewster home in Salisbury is still standing, and remains in good condition.
