Lafayette J. Robertson Jr.1896 - 1975

Lafayette Janes Robertson, Jr. was born in 1896. He lived in the Hartford, Connecticut area for most of his life, and was a graduate of the Old Brown and Hartford Public High Schools. He received his B.S. from Central Connecticut State College and his M.A. from the Hartford Seminary Foundation. He was an educational adviser for the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression. He was also a research editor of the Writers Project and taught in several local schools at this time. He also worked for the Union Drawn Steel Division in East Hartford, Connecticut, and the IRS, before retiring in 1966. He was the author of the books "The Golden Chariot and "Victory Verse" both published to honor servicemen in World War II. He was a life member of the Connecticut Horticulture Society, the Connecticut League of Art Students, the Pomological Society, the Hartford Poetry League, the YMCA and Connecticut Youth Hostels. He was a noted horticulturalist. He had at least one brother, Martin Robertson.
