Virginia GroverAmerican, 1909 - 1970

Virginia Grover was born in Boston, Massachusetts on 5 July 1909, the daughter of Alfred C. and Ethel L. Peterson Grover. She was educated at the Chamberlayne and Old Colony Schools in Boston. She moved to Hartford, Connecticut, in 1930, which remained her home for the rest of her life. During World War II, she served as the Greater Hartford chairwoman of the Women's Organization for War Savings. Virginia Grover married Houghton Bulkeley; they had a son, Peter Bulkeley.

Virginia Grover Bulkeley was a member of the Connecticut Historical Society since 1943; a member of the Junior League of Hartford, Inc.; Colonial Dames of America in the State of Connecticut; Society of the Descendants of the Founders of Hartford; the Society of Mayflower Descendants; and the Hartford Golf Club. She died in Hartford, Connecticut, on 16 December 1970.
