BiographyAsa Hutchins was born in Pownal, Maine, on 8 July 1811. He attended Bowdoin Medical College, then worked as a doctor in Poland Springs for twelve years, then in Durham, New Hamshire for four more. Later, he moved to Columbia Connecticut.
Asa Hutchins married Eliza Frances Armstrong in Freeport, Maine, on 3 July 1836. They had five children: John Armstrong (b. 1838); Joseph (twin) (1840-1921); Esther (twin) (1840-1917); Eliza Ann (1846-1903); and Harriet M. (1857-1903). Asa Hutchins died in Columbia, Connecticut, on 8 May 1865.
