John J. McMahon

BiographyJohn J. McMahon was born in Hartford, Connecticut on 22 April 1875. He began his architectural career in the office of Frederick Royal Comstock and later worked as a draftsman for John J. Dwyer. In 1906, he became a partner in Dwyer & McMahon. After Dwyer died, McMahon entered into partnership with Frank W. Whiton, who also had worked for Dwyer, as Whiton & McMahon. The partnership lasted from 1911 to 1931. McMahon resumed practice by himself in 1932. He designed many churches and schools in the Hartford area. He died on 8 September 1958. The Connecticut Historical Society has a large collection of McMahon's architectural drawings.
