BiographyThe Meriden Gravure Company was founded in Meriden, Connecticut in 1888 by Charles Parker and James F. Allen. The company specialized in high quality image reproduction for scientific journals, museums, libraries, and art book. Early work employed the collotype process, which the company perfected. Later work was done using fine-screen halftones. In 1977, the company merged with the Stinehour Press of Lunenberg, Vermont, becoming the Meriden-Stinehour Press.
