Reverend Leonard Bacon

BiographyReverend Leonard Bacon was born in 1802 in New Haven, Connecticut. He was a reformer and antislavery moderate. His first wife was Lucy Johnson Bacon, and they had four children: Rebecca Taylor Bacon (b. 1826); Leonard Woolsey Bacon (b. 1830); Lucy Bacon (1841-1854); and Katherine Wadsworth Bacon (b. 1848). His second wife was Catherine Elizabeth Terry. While returning from a trip to Damascus in about 1851, Reverend Bacon was taken prisoner in the Kurdish mountains, but he was subsequently released. Reverend Leonard Bacon died in 1881.
