Captain Thomas R. Mead

American, 1836 - 1862
BiographyThomas R. Mead, was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, on 23 April 1836. He enlisted as a lieutenant in I Company of the 10th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on 6 September 1861. A short time later, the regiment joined the forces of General Burnside in North Carolina. By September of 1862, Mead had been promoted to Captain of Company G for gallant conduct during the Battles of Roanoke Island and New Berne, North Carolina. Captain Thomas R. Mead died of typhoid fever in Washington, North Carolina, on 25 October 1862.
