William A. Beers and Sereno Mansfield operated a "Gallery of Photographic Science and Art" at 144 Chapel Street in New Haven, CT from 1856 to 1866. They advertised themselves as "practical artists" and offered not only photographs, ambrotypes, and dagauerreotypes, but also melainotypes, spherotypes, and crayon miniatures. W. A. Beers was in business by himself in 1854 and again in 1867 and in 1884-1889.
