Lucy Ripley

American, 1789 - 1846
BiographyLucy Ripley was born in Coventry, Connecticut, in September 1789. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Ripley and Mary Grove Ripley. She was educated in Hartford, Connecticut, probably at the Patten School, a seminary for young ladies. On 19 April 1809, Lucy Ripley married John Howard (1784-1813) of Coventry, Connecticut, the son of Dr. Nathan Howard and Joanna Hale Howard. John Howard's mother was the sister of Nathan Hale (1755-1776), the Revolutionary War hero. John and Lucy Ripley Howard had two children, John Ripley Howard (b. 1810) and Chauncey Howard (b. 1812). Lucy Ripley Howard died in Coventry, Connecticut, on 19 June 1846.
