Stephen Bulkeley

BiographyStephen Bulkeley was born in Wethersfield, Connecticut on 18 November 1768, the son of Benjamin Bulkeley and his first wife, Susannah Kirby Bulkeley. He married Mrs. Margaret Maria Fanning, who had one daughter. They had two children, one of whom was their daughter, Caroline, who married Isaac W. Stuart in 1834. Stephen Bulkeley purchased the Wyllys Homestead in Hartford, the location of the Charter Oak tree, where he worked as a wealthy merchant and lived at the time of his death. On 17 October 1841, Stephen Bulkeley died at the age of 73.
