Charles BrainerdAmerican, 1786- 1850

Charles Brainerd was born in Hartford, Connecticut on 11 December, 1786, the son of Adonijah Brainerd and Miriam Church Brainerd. On 28 October 1812, he married Sally Haskell in Wethersfield, Connecticut. They had two children. His son, Charles Haskell Brainerd, married Mary Jane Goodwin and they had three daughters: Sarah Matilda Brainerd; Mary Brainerd Clark; and Katharine Louise Brainerd Cotton. He was an iron merchant by trade and worked in the firms of Ward, Bartholomew and Brainerd and C. Brainerd and Son. Mr. Brainerd was also the director of Hartford Bank for several years. In 1823, he was chosen vestryman of Christ Church in Hartford, Connecticut. On 28 November 1850, Charles Brainerd died at the age of 64. His wife, Sally Haskell, died on 10 November 1873.
