Captain John Bonner, Jr. was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on 6 December 1693, the son of Captain John Bonner and his second wife, Mary Clark Bonner. His sister, Jane Bonner Ellery (1691-1758) and he were the only two children out of six to survive their father. He was taken to London, where he contracted smallpox during the epidemic on 6 December 1698. On 17 November 1715, in Boston, Massachusetts, Captain John Bonner, Jr. married Sarah Marsh, the daughter of Samuel Marsh. In 1743, Captain Bonner lived in Boston on Mackerel Lane in the house owned by the late Deacon Samuel Marshall Marsh. Captain Bonner was a mariner by trade and was probably the master of the ship "Pepperell Gally," in 1749, working in the Lisbon trade. Captain John Bonner, Jr's. death date is unknown.
