Reverend Benjamin Boardman

American, 1731 - 1802
BiographyReverend Benjamin Boardman was born in Glastonbury, Connecticut, on 3 August 1731, the son of Edward Boardman and Dorothy Smith Boardman. He moved with his family to Middletown in 1740. In 1758, he graduated Yale College. He became the chaplain for the Second Connecticut Regiment from Roxbury, Connecticut. He was the pastor of the Congregational Church in Middle Haddam from 1762 to the Revolution. From 1784 to 1789, he was the pastor of the Second Church in Hartford, Connecticut. On 11 February 1762, he married Ann Johnson, previously Mrs. Stephen Hosmer and fifteen years his senior, from East Haddam, Connecticut. They had no biological children, but they adopted Benjamin Jeduthan Boardman, Reverend Boardman's nephew. Reverend Benjamin Boardman died in Hartford, Connecticut, on 12 February 1802 at the age of 71. Ann Johnson Boardman died on 9 December 1809 at the age of 92.
