Eli Coe Birdsey Sr.

BiographyEli Coe "Squire" Birdsey was born in Meriden, Connecticut on 21 December 1799, the son of Gershom Birdsey and Lucy Coe Birdsey. On 3 June 1824, he married Rebecca Cooke Wilcox. They had three children, among whom was Linus Birdsey (1825-1917). Eli Coe Birdsey was a clockmaker by trade and taught school, perhaps in Middlefield. He was the first selectman in 1833 and town clerk of Meriden from 1834-1843. He served in the Connecticut state legislature as a representative from Meriden in 1834 and 1835. Eli Coe Birdsey died on 9 October 1843.
