BiographyWhitehill & Cleveland was founded by Hugh Whitehill and Ordine M. Cleveland in 1880. Cleveland took over the management of the business when Whitehill died in 1884. The company manufactured the Newburgh Never-Rip brand of overalls, shirts and pantaloons, and a general line of workingmen's clothing in cotton, denim and wool. Their business served an area from the northeast to as far west as Omaha and as far south as the gulf coast states. The factory building on the corners of Liberty and Lafayette Streets in Newburgh, New York was still in existence up until 1981 when it was destroyed by fire.
