From the Connecticut State Library: "Herbert Randall (1850-1926) was born in Massachusetts and lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan before opening a studio in New Haven in 1894. He served as a contributor and later as president of the Connecticut Magazine and sought to promote public awareness of the history of Connecticut."
