Uriah Hayden

BiographyUriah Hayden was born on 10 January 1732 the son of Nehemiah Hayden and Temperance (Parker) Hayden of Saybrook, Connecticut. He purchased numerous properties in the 1760s, was an innkeeper, shopkeeper and shipbuilder. He became Captain of the local militia in 1770, and was chosen a member of the local Committee of Correspondence in 1774. He married Ann Starkey (1736-1813) with whom he had eight children: Nehemiah, Ebenezer, Ebenezer (2), Temperance, Mary Ann, Samuel M., Esther and Charlotte. He died on 24 November 1808.
