After Edmund Burke Kellogg left the lithography firm of Kelloggs & Comstock on 24 January 1850 , the partnership between his brother Elijah Chapman Kellogg and John Chenevard Comstock continued for a short time as Kellogg & Comstock. Comstock departed in April 1851 and the name became E. C. Kellogg & Co.
