BiographyColonel Thomas Seymour married Mary Ledyard (d. 1807), in Hartford, Connecticut. His wife was the daughter of Captain John (1700-1771) and Deborah Youngs Ledyard (1705-1746/7), and the sister of Colonel William Ledyard, who was killed at the Battle of Fort Griswold on 6 September 1781. Mary and Thomas had seven children: Captain Thomas Youngs (1757-1811); William (1758-1843); Edward (1762-1822); Major Henry (b. 1764); Mary Juliana (1769-1843); Ledyard (b. 1773) and Samuel (1776-1776). Colonel Thomas Seymour became the first mayor of Hartford.
