Elbert Weinberg

American, 1928 - 1991
BiographyElbert Weinberg was a Jewish American sculptor. He was born on 27 May 1928 in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Weaver High School and during high school he also attended the Hartford Art School. He then trained at the Rhode Island School of Design and Yale University. In 1951, he won the prestigious Rome Prize, which enabled him to continue his education in Italy, where he spent the next 25 years working. Weinberg returned to the United States in 1976. Some of his large public sculptures are displayed in Hartford and West Hartford. He died on 27 December 1991.
