BiographyMahonri Mackintosh Young was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 9 August 1877. He was a painter, sculptor, etcher, writer, and teacher. He trained at the Art Students League in New York, as well as at the Academies Julien, Colarossi, and Delacluse in Paris, and he was a student of J. T. Harwood. Mahonri Young was a member of several American art associations, and he taught at the School of American Sculpture and Art Students League in New York. In 1931, he married Dorothy Weir, the daughter of J. Alden Weir. He died in Norwalk, Connecticut on 2 November 1957.
