Oliver M. Smith

Oliver Merrels Smith was born on 30 September 1846 in Norwich, Connecticut. He was the son of Captain Edward Smith (1803-1872) and Sally Maria Geer (1808-1873). He had eight siblings: Sally Ann Maria Smith (1827-1830), Francis Edward Smith (1829-1831), Sally Maria Smith (b. 1831), Edward Smith (b. 1833), Francis Smith (1835-1876), Adelaide Elizabeth Smith (1838-1865), Harriet Anna Smith (b. 1840), and Jedediah Smith (1843-1870).

He married Harriet M. Sparks on 6 December 1873.
