David L. Holmes

David L. Holmes was born on 20 February 1929. He was the son of Joseph A. Holmes and Lillie Ester Holmes. He had two brothers: Joseph Holmes, Jr. and Samuel F. Holmes. He attended Hartford Public High School.

According to an article published in The Hartford Courant on 4 April 1949, David Holmes was awarded an educational scholarship by the Hartford Foundation of Public Giving and the Greater Hartford Negro College Fund to finance his education at the University of Connecticut to study social work.

Holmes served as Executive Director of the Community Renewal Team in Hartford, Connecticut.

He had at least one son, David Holmes, Jr.

David L. Holmes died on 5 September 2000 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
