BiographyMary Jane Whipple was born on 12 May 1836 in Cumberland, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Eliab Whipple (1808-1864) and Nancy Grant (1805-1843). She had four siblings: Eliab D. Whipple (1831-1908), Abby Ann Whipple (1838-1839), Arlon Mann Whipple (1839-1910), and Nancy Sophia Whipple (1842-1842). She had one half-sibling, Rosalthie Whipple Scott (1844-1906).
She married William E. Brainard (1835-1913) in 1854.
She died in Rhode Island in 1912.
