BiographyJuan C. Román (7 Sept. 1928 - 22 May 2020) was born in Añasco, Puerto Rico. In 1948, at the age of 18, Juan moved to the United States. In 1950, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps to serve in the Korean War. He became the first Puerto Rican police officer within the Hartford Police Department. In 1965, he left the police force to return to Puerto Rico and work for the Shade Tobacco Growers Association. In returned to the United States in 1975.
