R. O'Brien

BiographyRobert O'Brien appears only in the 1838 Hartford city directory, where he is listed as a wood engraver. He is probably the same Robert O'Brien who won an award for ink drawing at the Hartford County Agricultural Fair in 1845. He may also be the same Robert O'Brien who was living in Brooklyn NY and working as a portrait engraver in New York City beginning in 1848. He was presumably the artist of two Kellogg lithographs, both signed "R. O'Brien Del."
