BiographyThe Bissell family has a very long history in New England; the first Bissell to arrive was John Bissell, who came to Massachusetts in 1628. Thomas Bissell (1757-1855) was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The Bissell family remained primarily in and around East Windsor, Connecticut, until Thomas H. Bissell (1819-1906) became a business man in Hartford.
