Captain Andrew J. Norton

BiographyCaptain Andrew Jackson Norton (13 September 1813 - 12 February 1897) was the son of Parish L. (1786–1838) and Betsey (Rice) Norton (1785–1854). He was born on the Norton homestead on Lake Avenue in Bristol, Connecticut.
He had six siblings: Josiah (d. 1826), Gad (1815-1898), Lucinda (b. 1817), Levi (b. 1819), and Hiram Norton (b. 1826).
His married his first wife, Miranda Byington, in 1842. After her death he married Esther L. Spelman (1836-1914) in 1864. They had two children: Cora J. (Norton) Belden (1867-1950) and Minton Andrew Norton (1869-1951).
He was a captain of a boat in the Farmington Canal.
