BiographyWladyslaw Furtak is a singer, storyteller, and woodcarver from the Gorale region in the Tatra Mountains of Poland who resides in Ansonia, Connecticut. He performed Gorale songs and stories at the opening of the exhibition, “Polonia w Connecticut: Polish American Traditional Arts in Connecticut.” He also loaned several pieces carved and inscribed in Gorale style to the exhibit, including a baby’s crib used by his grandchildren; wooden utensils used for making cheese; and a frame with family pictures and the inscription: “Be great with God and people.”
