Charles Alvord

Charles Alvord, a manufacturer, was born in Bolton, Connecticut on 25 November 1826, the son of Saul and Phebe Buell Alvord. He married Almira, the daughter of Seaman and Martha Ward Burtis in East Chester, New York on 18 November 1857. Organizer, treasurer and manager of Excelsior Needle Company of Torrington 1861-1898. Served Legislature from Torrington 1880. First President of Torrington YMCA 1891 to 1898. Charles Alvord died in Torrington, Connecticut on 13 July 1901. He had five children.
