Charles T. StuartAmerican, 1856 - 1902
Charles T. Stuart was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1856. He worked as a photographer at the West Point Military Academy and Vassar College before comint to Connecticut. He was the official photographer at Yale University in 1879 and 1880, and in 1880, he bought out the photography business of S. H. Waite at 275 Main Street (later 751 Main Street) Hartford. He enjoyed a national reputation, serving as the only professional judge of awards in photography at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, and as a judge for awards issued by the Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester. He died following an attack of apoplexy in the summer of 1902.
