Richard S. DeLamaterAmerican, 1833 - 1915

Richard S. DeLamater was born on 23 October 1833 in Hudson, New York. He came to Connecticut about 1860 and opened a photography business in Hartford in about 1862. This business continued under his name until 1892, when it became Richard S. DeLamater & Son. DeLamater was one of the most important and successful photographers in Hartford. His work includes many important early city views and portraits of many Hartford citizens. He died in Hartford on 3 February 1915.
