BiographyGeorge Whiting was first employed as a clerk in E.B. & E.C. Kellogg's New York office in 1847. By 1848, he was serving as their agent and he continued as as the firm's New York agent throughout the Kelloggs' unsuccessful partnership with John Chenevard Comstock and its aftermath. In 1860, after the Kelloggs closed their New York office, Whiting took over the shop and continued selling prints and other pictures until his death in 1862.
