Walter Chipman

Walter Chipman, the fourth son of Walter Chipman, was born in Barnstable, Massachusetts on 9 August 1822. A resident of Barnstable where he was a magistrate, and a shipmaster for a time, he was for twenty-two years Deputy Collector of Customs at Barnstable. He married Mehitable Gray Baker, daughter of David Baker of Barnstable, on 25 January 1849. They had a daughter named Lizzie Chimpan born on 14 August 1850/51 who married Josiah Q. Baker. Their daughter, Hettie Gray Baker, was a film editor for the Fox Film Corporation in New York City in the 20th century.
