BiographyRoger Emery Carlock was born in New York City. He graduated from the Kent School and from Colgate University in 1957.

Roger E. Carlock worked in advertising. He was employed by The Travelers Insurance Companies, then by New England Life, as advertising manager and subsequently advertising director. In 1973, Carlock served as vice president for communications at Massachusetts Financial Services, now MFS.

He was active in professional and civic organizations including the Association of National Advertisers, public service campaigns of the Ad Council, the Hartford Sister City program and the Greater Hartford People to People Peace Corps service council.

He married Marty (Martha Harlan Clifford), and they had two sons, David S. Carlock and Robert M. Carlock. He also had two stepsons, Mark L. Clifford and Harlan C. Clifford.
