Robert Porter Keep

BiographyRobert Porter Keep (1844-1904) was born in Farmington, Connecticut to Rev. John Robinson Keep (1810-1884) and Rebecca Porter Keep (1818-1893). He had three siblings: William A. Keep (1847-1867), Mary Keep (1849-1874), and Elizabeth Porter Keep Avery (1851-1910).
He married Margaret Vryling Haines in 1878, with whom he had three children: Robert Porter Keep, Jr. (1882-1967), Dorothea Keep (1884-), and Edward Haines Keep (1886-1893). He then married Elizabeth Vashti Hale in 1897.
He graduated from Yale College in 1865, and served as U.S. Consul to Greece, 1868-1870. He then served as Principal of Norwich Free Academy, 1885-1904.
