Thomas Llewellen Vater

BiographyTom Vater, born on July 6, 1935, in New Britain, Connecticut, was the host of the television show Teensville. From 1959 to 1961, Teensville aired on Hartford's Channel 18. Similar in style to American Bandstand, Teensville featured hit songs and musical acts, while local teens danced along with the music.

Vater graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford, then attended Syracuse University where he majored in television studies. He served in the Army Medical Corp. in San Antonio, Texas, and was a member of the National Guard. He moved to Los Angeles, where he produced television and motion picture documentaries.

He was the son of Alfred Herman Vater (1920-1976) and Ruth Hewitt Vater (1910-2000), and the brother of Virginia Ruth Vater (June 9, 1944 - November 29, 2004).
