BiographyJ. R. Gaunt & Son was founded in 1884 by Richard Gaunt and his eldest son, Charles Frederick in Birmingham, England. The company supplied badges and buttons to uniformed organizations all over the world. In 1899 the company incorporated as a limited company, and opened London offices in 1905. After World War I the company purchased a number of button and insignia makers, including Jennens & Co Ltd of London in 1925, and became part of Firmin group in 1991.
