Ernest Elias Rogers
Ernest E. Rogers served as a Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut (1928-1930), Mayor of New London (1915-1918), State Representative (1921-1923), Senator, and State Treasurer (1924-1928). In 1930, he ran as the Republican candidate for governor and was defeated by Dr. Wilbur L. Cross. He served as president of the Winthrop Trust Company. He served as the national president of the Sons of the American Revolution, president of the Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, and president of the New London Historical Society.
He served in the Connecticut National Guard from 1902-1909. In 1912/1913, he worked as a recruiting officer for the Connecticut National Guard in the New London area. During World War I he organized and commanded a New London machine gun platoon of the Connecticut National Guard.
