BiographyAdella Smolenski was born 16 December 1909 in New Britain, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Mary Talkoza and John Smolensky, both born in Poland. She had four sisters and one brother: Helen Hewitt, Jane Marquis, Sally Kunkel, Genevieve Janus, and Stanley Gierula. Adella married John M. Sliva (d. 1996) on 30 May 1936 at Holy Cross Church in New Britain, Connecticut. Adella and John had two daughters, Joan Sliva Briggaman of Westbrook, and Janice Sliva Kaval of Bretton Woods, New York. Adella and John were members of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington.
Adella Smolenski Sliva retired from Fafnir Bearing Company of Newington in 1970. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish American Club in Newington. She died on 23 May 2001, and is buried in West Meadow Cemetery. She was 91.
