BiographyEdwin Stearns was born on 22 May 1804 in Lexington, Massachusetts, the son of Samuel Stearns. He moved to Middletown, Connecticut in 1825 or 26, where he established a mercantile business. He married Maria Brewer (1809-1870) of Middletown on 17 April 1828. They had three sons: Charles E. (1931-1853); William Samuel (1833-1921); George Frederick (1838-1903).
Stearns was involved in politics, including being a state representative from his district, treasurer of the state, and other offices, including Bank-Commissioner, State-Prison Director, and Governor's Aid.
He died on 4 September 1867 and is buried in Indian Hill Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut.
