Theodore R. Davis

Theodore R. Davis was born in Boston, but apparently had moved to New York City by about 1855. He worked as an illustrator and artist-correspondent for Harper's Weekly from about 1861 to 1884. In 1884, he retired to Asbury Park, New Jersey, where he continued to do free-lance work until his death in 1894.
