Newman Hungerford

Newman Hungerford was born in Monticello, Georgia on 14 May 1849. He later moved to Connecticut where he worked for Blodget & Clapp for many years until his retirement in 1900. He was a prominent philatelist and numismatist and a donor to the Connecticut Historical Society. He lived in Harwinton and died in Torrington on 8 May 1927. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
