BiographySophronia Tennant Atwell was born 14 March 1818 in Enfield, Connecticut. She was the daughter of George Benjamin and Mary Mecum Tennant Atwell, of Colchester, Connecticut. She married Edward Eaton Bowen (1815-1887) in Meriden, Connecticut on 14 or 15 June 1836; they had at least one son, Dr. George Austin Bowen, Sr. (1841-1910). Sophronia Tennant Atwell Bowen died in Brooklyn, New York on 28 March 1899.
