G. Bennitts Gallery

The imprint "G. Bennitts Gallery, Bridgewater, Ct." appears on a carte-de-visite from the John Craig Collection, apparently dating from the 1860s. Connecticut Photographers lists a George Bennett active in Bridgewater in 1880. This may be the George C. Bennitt who was born on 5 May 1824 and died on 22 September 1890 and who appears to have spent his entire life in Bridgewater. However, this George Bennitt is consistently listed as a farmer or laborer in Census Records.
