William Luce

American, 1825 - 1863
BiographyWilliam Luce, born about 1825, died 1863.

W. Luce was an engineer, and worked for the U.S. Coastal Survey in the 1840s.

He was killed in the "Battle of the Hudson," near New Orleans, at the Battle of Port Hudson. General Nathaniel Banks’ report, preserved in the OR, mentions that he was killed during the battle, more specifically, that he was killed by a sniper on June 26, 1863.
