Andrew Atkinson Humphreys

BiographyAndrew Atkinson Humphreys was born in1810 and died in1883. He came from a well-to-do family, and entered West Point at age sixteen. He worked for the United States Coast Survey and served during the Civil War. In 1866, he was appointed Chief of the Army Corps of Engineers.
