BiographyEstablished in 1880, the James W. Sewell Company initially provided forest inventories, surveying and mapping for the lumber industry in northern Maine and Canada. In the 1900s, the company began serving a broader range of clients. In the 1940s, they acquired an airplane and camera and began incorporating photogrammetric processes into their mapmaking.
